Provenance

From its creation in 1928, the painting “La terrasse de Vernon” by Pierre Bonnard remained the property of the artist, who made it available for exhibitions in North and South America until at least 1941. Bonnard himself sold the painting to a private collector in Paris, presumably Louis Carré, before his death in 1947. As the work was still in private hands in 1973, it can be assumed that it did not change hands between 1941 at the earliest and 1975. The Kunstsammlung Nordrhein-Westfalen purchased the painting “La terrasse de Vernon” from Galerie Nathan for its holdings in 1975.
