Provenance

Little is known about the whereabouts of the painting “Verschiedene Titel (N*tanz, Zirkusszene, Variété, Wanderzirkus, Tanzpaar)” by Ernst Ludwig Kirchner after its creation around 1911. In 1920, it was shown as a Rhineland-based private possession at the Grosse Kunstausstellung in Düsseldorf. The consignor was Hans Koch, who owned the work until 1963. Hans Koch’s widow, Maria Elisabeth Koch, gave the work to Kunsthaus Lempertz that year, which subsequently sold it to Galerie Wilhelm Großhennig at its 476th auction. The Kunstsammlung Nordrhein-Westfalen purchased the painting “Verschiedene Titel (N*tanz, Zirkusszene, Variété, Wanderzirkus, Tanzpaar)” from Galerie Wilhelm Großhennig for its holdings in 1964.
