Provenance
The painting “Femme tenant des fleurs” by Fernand Léger was purchased by the Parisian art dealer Léonce Rosenberg shortly after its creation in 1922 and can be traced back to him until at least 1924. In 1927 and 1928, the work was owned by Etienne Bignou, who founded his Parisian gallery around the same time. In 1937, the work returned to Rosenberg and then remained in the possession of Louis Carré from at least 1938 to at least 1955. From 1956 to 1958, it was represented in various exhibitions as part of Ragnar Moltzau’s collection. The Kunstsammlung Nordrhein-Westfalen purchased the painting “Femme tenant des fleurs” from Marlborough Fine Art for its holdings in 1963.
